Full-Day Chimpanzee Habituation Experience in Kibale

After a very early morning breakfast at your lodge located near Kibale National Park, you will transfer to the **Kanyanchu Visitor Center** for a detailed briefing on the Chimpanzee Habituation Experience (CHEX). This experience begins earlier than standard trekking, often before 6:00 AM. Accompanied by experienced researchers and guides, you will embark on a full-day immersion into the lives of a chimpanzee community that is undergoing habituation. You'll spend significantly more time with the chimps (up to four hours of direct observation, but the overall forest time is longer), observing them from the moment they de-nest in the morning until they settle in for the night. This rare opportunity allows you to witness their complex social behaviors, feeding patterns, and communication in a more in-depth and unhurried manner. A packed lunch will be provided to be enjoyed in the forest. You will return from the forest in the late afternoon, filled with insights into chimpanzee life. The remainder of your day can be spent relaxing at your lodge, reflecting on this extraordinary experience, or preparing for your onward journey as part of a larger safari package.
